Bad Idea Factory

Bad Idea Factory

The students seem to be getting the hang of the bad idea factory! My favorite might be "Visit Afghanistan," though this may be because we are reading A Thousand Splendid Suns in my contemporary literature class and I am certain that the student who wrote this one is in my class.

So, the next step is helping them to find some good ideas from the bad. For example, while "internet date with a different guy each week" might not work, "compare different online dating services and check their efficacy mmmight be an interesting project. "Clean up Colfax" is an excellent idea, but will take too long. However, what is something that could be done to further that cause by a student in a single school year?

Though the book focuses on service projects, I think our students should pick anything they want to work on; if a student wants to spend time on something selfissh she may. The girls have so much on their plates as teen moms, I just want them to find something they are passionate about and have a desire to persue.
